Meredith W. Germain is Of Counsel to the Starkey Law Group and is a member of Turner Ross Germain, LLC. Meredith has practiced law for over 20 years and is highly experienced in a wide variety of civil litigation matters. Meredith generally represents local governments as either in-house or outside counsel. Her responsibilities include drafting and presentation of local acts, ordinances, policies, and procedures; advising and preparing legal opinions for elected and non-elected officials; assisting in the areas of zoning and land use, tax foreclosure and redemption proceedings; occupation tax certification, sign ordinance enforcement, code enforcement and community development.


Meredith has handled a variety of litigation on behalf of counties and municipalities in the areas of land use and zoning, constitutionality of ordinances, tax foreclosure and redemption, tax appeals, breach of contract, and landlord-tenant matters. She has also prosecuted blighted properties under municipalities nuisance abatement ordinances.


In Meredith’s private client practice, she also represents a variety of individual and corporate clients in civil litigation matters. Meredith works with individuals and homeowner associations in zoning and land use matters; individuals in personal injury claims, including automobile accidents, wrongful death, medical malpractice and slip and fall accidents; individuals and corporations in litigation regarding tax assessments and appeals and property tax exemptions. Meredith also engages in appellate advocacy. Her appellate practice is founded on the highest standards of written and oral advocacy. She has argued and won appeals in civil matters in state appellate courts.


Meredith received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Providence College in 1995.She then received her M.S.W. in Social Work in the Advanced Standing Program from New York University School of Social Work in 1996. In 2001, she received her Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law. Meredith was an Articles Editor for the Hofstra Labor and Employment Law Journal, a Board Member of the Moot Court Association, the First Place Winner of the Nassau Academy of Law Moot Court Competition and on the dean’s list.
