Kimberly Cornwell

Kimberly Cornwell is an accomplished attorney with over 30 years of comprehensive legal experience. She serves as Of Counsel to The Starkey Law Group in her capacity as Solicitor for the City of Fairburn. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Kim started practicing law in New York City at a large, National Park Avenue firm where she represented national and international insurers handling complex commercial coverage issues. After spending a few months in California on a case, Kim seized the opportunity to move to San Clemente, California in the early 1990s. She began working with a boutique insurance defense firm in Irvine, handling similar complex business losses for large insurers.
Upon moving to Atlanta in 2005, Kim wanted to make more of an impact on individual lives, so she switched her legal focus to criminal defense. In doing so, she gained valuable courtroom experience and became a commanding trial attorney. She enhanced her criminal defense experience with a brief stint with the Public Defender’s Office and years of working for Bruce Harvey, a nationally known criminal defense attorney. She started Kim Cornwell Law, PC in 2016. Kim has tried cases including the death penalty, murder, aggravated assault, sex crimes, and drugs. She has handled both misdemeanor and felony cases. Most importantly, by studying criminal law and applying advocacy skills Kim has had the joy of helping people get a second chance at life.
Kim’s extensive criminal law experience led to her role as the Solicitor for the City of Fairburn. She is also the Solicitor for the cities of College Park and Hapeville. Additionally, Kim represents the City of Riverdale in the Environmental Court. Kim enjoys engaging with the citizens of communities where she has a presence. As a Solicitor, she also gains balance and objectivity with her private defense practice. When not practicing law, Kim is a fitness enthusiast, competing in triathlons as well as coaching and competing in CrossFit.
